This intimate course is limited to twelve doctors. We strive to meet each attendee where they are in their surgical journey. Cases will be assigned based on the experience and goals of the participants. All patients will be ASA 1 or 2, and all will be monitored during treatment. Participants will work in teams of two, taking turns as doctor and assistant.
Atraumatic tooth removal and GBR procedures demand meticulous protocols. This course is dedicated to instilling a rock-solid foundation. We’ll cover early case selection, strategizing, step by step surgical protocols from sectioning to graft selection to suturing. Also, a complete blueprint from pre-op consents to post-op guidelines. Each day, we spend about ninety minutes in lecture, and the remainder of the day YOU are performing surgery. You can expect to perform five to six surgeries from a few complex teeth requiring flaps (doesn’t matter if you never laid a flap – that is why you are here), graft selection, membrane use, socket seals, PRF to Full mouth extractions.
Pre-Course Workshop
At the Rasner Institute, we recognize that our attendees come from diverse surgical backgrounds. Some have extensive experience with advanced surgical procedures but are seeking a refresher, while others are newly exploring this area of clinical care.
To ensure a strong foundation for all participants, this workshop provides a comprehensive review of essential surgical principles. We cover the armamentarium, including membranes and bone allografts, and revisit fundamental techniques such as surgical flap designs and common suturing methods.
By reinforcing these core skills, we aim to instill confidence and enhance each attendee’s surgical experience, setting the stage for a more fulfilling and successful course.
Course Objectives
Following this course, participants can expect to be able to:
- Understand techniques to address removal of any tooth (we do not address 3rd molars unless requested). Removing long rooted molars with RCT history in a bruxer broken to gingiva
- Know when and how to section a tooth for removal
- Employ Flap designs – 3 corner- 4 corner
- Master what graft combinations to use on specific defects
- Understand appropriate membrane selection
- How to stabilize membranes with tacks-screws-suture
- Utilize socket seals – what to use and why
- Perform four suturing techniques and know when to employ them
- See red flags and safe patient selection
- Use appropriate antibiotic coverage
- Pain management
- Be familiar with case presentation and determining fees
- Understand the necessary legal documentation
- Understand the benefits of oral sedation

All attendees are invited to dinner on Friday at a local restaurant selected by Dr. Rasner. Up for discussion will be anything from practice management and growth tips to clinical gems to improve your productivity.
